Main highlight: User interface compact size

After we learned that many of our users use Onlineboard on devices with small screens (and even desktop computers with resolutions such as 1024x768px) we decided that it is important to fix the size of user interface on such screens.

Previously the user interface size has the same size regardless of the screen size. With the introduction of compact mode you can shrink the top bar height and make the toolbox smaller.

UI size defaults

To simplify lives of our users we automatically detect their screen size. If height of their screen is smaller than some specified threshold (768 pixels to be specific) we automatically enable the compact user interface mode.

This settings is then persisted and used to all following sessions.

Manually changing the user interface size

As it is with every feature we want the users to be in control. That is why we added this setting to the Interface section of the application settings. You can change the user interface size to your liking.

Do you want to use compact mode on bug screen? No problem.

Possible future: Fullscreen mode

The next step in user interface customization could be and introduction of even more UI sizes. Or maybe the fullscreen mode for the Onlineboard?

Additional fixes and improvements

Apart from the main highlight we also improved various parts of the application and webpage.

• clarified messages and improved board not exists and disconnect dialogs
• fix the settings dialog once more
• always create dark whiteboard when creating it from blackboard landing page
• webpage was not completely respecting user-modified dark mode settings
• improved board loading screen
