Sharing a board with other Onlineboard users

The biggest change we introduce this update is the ability to invite other Onlineboard users to your whiteboard via email. This allows you to make the board private (not accessible by URL link) and still shared with specific people.

When you are logged in, you just need to open Share Board dialog by clicking on the Share button. You can then invite your friends who already have an account on Onlineboard by typing their email address and clicking Share button.

Supported access levels

After the person is invited to the board, you can change their access level. Currently, we support these access levels:

• Viewer - allows the user to view the board, but not edit it
• Editor - allows the user to also write on the board and clear the board
• Admin - this is the highest level of access, user has everything in editor role, plus they can also change settings of the board (such as background color of the board), they can also change access level of other users and share the board with more people

Shared boards in board browser

After you share a board with someone, the board will be automatically saved in their Shared with me section of the board browser. This way, they can always find the board even if they do not have the link.

Changing the default link sharing level

You can also change the access level of the public link. Currently, we have 3 options:

• Write access - allows anyone with the link to write on the board and clear it
• Read-only - allows anyone with the link to open and view the board but not write on it
• No access - only people the board has been shared with can access the board

Additional fixes and improvements

Apart from the main highlight we also improved various parts of the application and fixed a lot of bugs.

• fixed a bug when export with images would not contain images if they did not load prior to launching export
• added message that tells user to verify their email, if it is not verified
• fixed a bug when it was impossible the change nickname without first joining a board
• improved handling of situation when one user is following someone and drawing at the same time, and the other user moves their viewport
• fixed a bug when username was not refreshed after changing it in board browser
• automatically try to reconnect when the visibility of browser window is changed
• fixed "Board with same name already exists" reconnect bug
• fixed a bug when moving a viewport with MMB (middle-mouse button) and scrolling the mouse wheel would cause the cursor to be stuck and also interrupted the move command
• fixed a bug when pasting text into various inputs was also handled by code for pasting images
