Main highlight: Bring everyone to me

We implemented the option to observe a user a long ago. This works great when you want to follow someone around the whiteboard. Now is the time to add the functionality representing the other side of the coin.

This week we added the bring everyone to me functionality. This allows the presenter to automatically move viewports of all other participants so that they can see everything you see. This is a little different from the following functionality as it does not require your audience to actively do something to follow you.

You can trigger this feature by right-clicking your avatar white in a whiteboard and then selecting "Bring everyone to me" option.

We are planning to enhance this feature by allowing you to teleport only specific users to your position. But right now we identified that bringing everyone would be most valuable.

New comparisons with different applications and new pages

One of the main articles we have written is dedicated to comparison of Onlineboard to a different whiteboaring solutions. We prepared one detailed comparison with application called Miro. You can read the whole comparison here.

We also added Terms of Use page to further clarify relationship between us and our users.

New create new board button in board browser

This update brings new floating action button (FAB) in the board browser. The button is used for quickly creating a new board. This is mainly useful in mobile devices and tablets where previously users had to first open a drawer and then select New board option.

This allows them to create new board in one click. It is also placed in the position that is commonly used for such purposes.

Copy link url in share dialog

To simplify your life we added a special button to copy the URL address of a board in the share dialog. Clicking on the input copied the address to your clipboard already, but we believe that this is a cleaner and more usable approach.

Additional fixes and improvements

Apart from the main highlight we also improved various parts of the application and webpage.

• improve login required message in board settings
• fixed backend bug which allowed anyone to clear any board
• track board disconnect errors with disconnect reasons
• make zoom in / zoom out keyboard shortcuts animated
• fixed a bug which prevented interacting with a board created from board browser on mobile device
• fixed a visual bug with compact ui size in board browser
• fixed a bug when pen size indicator was not shown after changing tool
• added copy url button to share dialog
